The Internet of Things (IoT) is the hot topic in the technology
industry and we're left to wonder why every industry insider is frenzied
about it. As new as it may sound, IoT is not a newly born technology
but the one that's been here for some time. Kevin Ashton, co-founder of
Auto-ID center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, conceived
it in the early 2000's. Ashton was one of the pioneers of IoT, which he
developed when he was working for a P&G project that involved
linking RFID information to the internet. The concept was simple yet
powerful enough to storm the whole IT industry.
What is Internet of Things?
Ashton wrote an article in 1999 for the RFID journal which said:
"If
we had computers that knew everything there was to know about
things-using data they gathered without any help from us -- we would be
able to track and count everything, and greatly reduce waste, loss, and
cost. We would know when things needed replacing, repairing or
recalling, and whether they were fresh or past their best. We need to
empower computers with their own means of gathering information, so they
can see, hear and smell the world for themselves, in all its random
glory. RFID and sensor technology enable computers to observe, identify
and understand the world-without the limitations of human-entered data."
Sometimes
in its crude form, IoT may even be referred to as M2M (Machine to
Machine). IoT is a network of intelligently connected humans, devices,
and systems. The network consists of day-to-day objects such as keys,
watches, mobile phones, household appliances, cars, buildings and many
more. These objects when integrated with chips and sensors, get the
ability to read new data and communicate among themselves on their own.
The human intervention here is minimum to none. Together when all the
devices are integrated, they can "talk", "think", and "feel" each other,
enabling us to monitor anytime, anywhere and enjoy the fruit of their
intelligent services.

Improving Your Computer's Performance - How It's Done
Mostly, people are inclined towards expensive software to
optimize their machine which most of the time create more problems. I
will tell you about some of the basic tips to make your windows running
smoothly without going more complex.
1) First of all, you don't need to download any expensive software like "System mechanic", "Avg Tuneup" etc to optimize your windows as they most of the time create more trouble rather than doing what they should do. So, try avoiding this software and look for the free alternatives.
2) Use the "Windows Disk Cleaner". It is a simple and effective tool to clean the system and it does a fair job in doing what its name implies. The engineers of the Microsoft Windows are clever enough to make their "Windows Disk Cleaner" effective for their users. There are a variety of options to choose for cleaning the PC as required.
3) Use the "Windows Disk Defragmenter". It looks very simple but, believe me, it will replace all your other defragmenter software. It also has an option for scheduling the time for defragmenting.
4) If you prefer a system cleaning software then "CCleaner" can be a good option for you. It is such a wonderful cleaning software and also includes a registry cleaner. Just use the free version and it will be sufficient for your whole system. The great feature of the "CCleaner" is that it has the option to let you find out about your startup programs in detail. You can turn off useless extensions of browsers, or disable scheduled tasks which take the precious memory of the system.
5) You can also use the "Defraggler" for defragging the system. It's another great software from the same company of CCleaner "Piriform". The best thing about this software is that it can make your system's fragment almost zero. You can also confirm this by defragging from this software and then checking from the "Windows Disk Defragmenter". Just click on the "Analyze" for checking. Aside from defragging effectively, it can also defrag locked system files. For using this, open the Defraggler and click on the settings. From there select the option "Boot Time Defrag" and there you can select the time when to perform.
Note: These tips are very basic, but they are effective. I personally follow these tips and my system is running smoothly. Also, these expensive cleaning software creates more problems. You may find this kind of software have a very good rating on reviewing websites like the "Top Ten Reviews" etc but have you see free software on their website. So, what this implies is that these kinds of reviewing websites charge a huge amount of money from the pricey software making companies and in turn rank them on top.

I Need Virus Protection and I'm Not an Engineer!
Good Morning: I realize that I have been writing as though to a group
of IT engineers. You are more likely to be business owners who need
information. I promise to try my very best to provide information that
is useful and interesting and will help you to save your businesses from
attack by the very people who want to destroy what you have built, and
sometimes for no better reason than bragging rights. Of course, they may
also want to do this in order to drain your monetary resources. They
can brag on that too.
Either way your way of life is endangered!
You probably are a small or medium size business owner who realizes that they are faced with an existential threat.
Because you certainly are! Today!
I will begin today to write on how you can protect yourselves. I am not a savior and all these people on the web who are trying their best to sell you something are not either.
Sorry but you have to save yourselves and your businesses, and your way of life. You. Yourself.
Let's talk just a little about the dangers you face.
A basic danger to you is called malware. It can also be called a virus. Or perhaps you might get a multitude of viruses. There are many things that can attack you but the basic ingredient is often the virus or malware. In any case, they will drain your resources and destroy your reputation. You can stop it and protect yourself and your business but before your spend ten cents stop and realize that there is a learning curve on how to do that and your must be willing to pay that price of learning so as to not squander your resources on things that will not help you but will instead only help the people providing unneeded products to you. Virus protection is serious but let's be rational here.
Seriously. Tread lightly here and learn before you spend. If your resources are limited (and whose aren't today) you don't have to buy everything under the sun today. Instead just take your time and when you decide the most serious danger to your business, then obtain the product necessary and go on, slowly, and with learning, to the next most serious danger. Make sense?
Let's get back to this dangerous things now facing you which is the malware, also known as a virus or viruses.

Is My Computer Security System Safe From Attack?
Dear Fellow Business Owners:
Do you know that thousands of websites, such as yours. are hacked on a daily basis? You might not even be aware of it unless the hackers chose to leave evidence. Maybe they did not because they like being able to return at will. And be inside your site! Inside your business! Prowling and searching and taking.
Every day, business owners lose sensitive data, money, or incur irreparable damage to their reputation due to security vulnerabilities in their computer security systems and websites. Malware is only a part of it. You are most certainly vulnerable in more than one area of your system, if you know it or not. The only question is what, if anything, you are going to do about it.
Outdated content management systems, poorly coded plugins or design flaws are just some of the vulnerabilities hackers can exploit to gain unauthorized access to your site and, from there, access your private databases and modify your site's pages to, for example, load viruses onto your visitors' computers or display illegal or offensive content. And I haven't even mentioned the more destructive and exotic types of malware here.
Unfortunately, hiring a cybersecurity company to perform a security audit of your computer system can be extremely expensive, often costing several thousand dollars. But you may already be aware of this. And I'll bet you're also smart enough to know how much it will cost you personally to just ignore it.
You can instead obtain your own security, without having to hire people you don't know to go into your private systems. And by doing it yourself, you can be sure what is and what is not included. One way to establish cyber security safety is to begin to plug the gaps, and obtain what is needed most today, and get the rest over a period of time that you designate.
This is not all or nothing today. You can build a safe system over time.
By taking charge of the process yourself, you will always know where you are in your quest for cyber security.
If you are adept enough to operate your own computer systems, then you can certainly take charge of this process. You can download the entire process yourself. Or possibly you might prefer to have someone you know and trust to take it over process, but with you monitoring the every step of the way.

You can find tablets of various brands, sizes and styles available in the market. They are portable and provide instant access to the internet. They are perfect for browsing, emailing and casual gaming. It can become difficult for a shopper to find the right tablet for his needs. Here are a few tips which can help you in buying the best tablet according to your needs:
- Convertible or Stand-Alone- Convertible devices are the combination of flexibility and convenience. They either come with a detachable keyboard or they are like a full-size laptop with a touch screen. Stand-alone tablets are like oversized smartphones weighing between 1 and 2 pounds. They are super compact and can be paired with a Bluetooth keyboard.
- Use- If you are looking for a tablet for general home use like browsing, emailing and music, you should not buy a high-end tablet. For business or work use, you should buy a tablet of at least a 9 inch screen. You can find a good branded tablet with handy multi-tasking features, pen-input support and optional keyboard attachment.
- Features- All new tablet models offer Wi-Fi connectivity and most of them come with a front facing webcam and GPS capability. You can find tablets of various screen sizes and shape and their screen resolutions are getting better. Storage space is also an important consideration while buying a tablet. Cheaper tablets usually have 8GB or 16GB built-in memory, while expensive tablets offer 32, 64 or 128GB space. Many tablets also have a memory card slot for expanding the storage of the device. You should also consider the speaker quality of the tablet. All tablets have a built-in speaker, but cheaper ones may not have good sound quality.
- Manufacturer- You should choose a manufacturer that offers the best customer support service. If you face any problem, you would want to make sure that there is a service center of the company nearby to solve the issues.

3D Printing - The Future Of The Printing Technology
How far can technology go? As far as one's imagination it seems.
The advancement in technology today leads many people to enjoy the
convenience and ease it brings. Every year, a new technological idea is
presented to the public and one of them even makes one's dream into a
reality, thanks to a machine called 3D Printer.
What is 3D Printing?
3D Printing is a process of printing an object that one can actually use. The process starts simple. One would create whatever image they want in a computer software and after scanning the image, it will then be sent to the printer that would then print it out in 3D format. Although it looks quite easy, and rightly so, there are different printers out there and depending on the needs and requirements of the person using it, may also differ in prices.
Applications
There are different applications that people may find useful using the printer. In the medical world such as, printers are used to make low-cost prosthetics. Since prosthetics are expensive, the 3D printed prosthetics are not only effective and found useful, it also cuts the cost of the original prosthetics and can be used to help amputees at home or shipped to war-torn countries. 3D printed ears, limbs and other body parts and medical equipment such as wheelchairs are now made using 3D printing machine. In some countries, researches are also ongoing with the possibility of one day using the equipment to print skins and other tissue material which can make skin grafting or skin replacement for patients faster and easier.
Another area where 3D printers are quite popular are with the kids. As kids becomes more inquisitive and curious with their surrounding and the campaign for creative awareness, these equipment are useful in helping kids image and create their own toys.
Interested in 3D Printing?
For beginners out there who are interested in creating or starting out in the industry, choosing the right equipment and materials are important especially if one is interested in making money out of it. The most popular filament for beginners is the PLA or Polylactic acid filament which is made of biodegradable and sustainable materials. Examples of companies that sells such filaments includes Proto-pasta, 3Dom USA, MakerBot and ColorFabb PLA. There are other companies out there that also offer other filament types and printers however, the companies mentioned above have ideal filaments that are suitable for beginners.

How To Buy A Printer
Printing technology has advanced a lot in recent times. There are
several innovative and time-saving features available in modern
printers. Whether you are looking to replace an old printer with a new
one or are looking to buy your first printer, here are a few things
which need due consideration:
- Requirement - There are different types of printers to suit different needs and uses. Make a list of your requirements to decide which one will work the best for you.The one you buy will depend mainly on your need and the place of use. Home users usually don't use print that often. They mainly print school assignment papers or photos for any art project. They don't need a printer with too many features or one which costs too much. In office, there are a lot of documents to be printed on a regular basis and office users usually look for professional quality output. Professional photographers need a dedicated photo printer with advanced features which allows them the convenience to print photos wherever they want.
- Type - People mainly buy either a laser or an ink jet printer. Laser printers print faster and cost less per page to print. Their print quality is very good but photo quality is poor as compared to an inkjet printer. If you have a lot of pages to print every day, consider buying a laser printer.
- Space - Laser printers are large and occupy more space. If you have limited space in your home or office, buy an inkjet printer.
- Features - Modern printers come with a lot of features like Wi-Fi, mobile printing, paper handling, duplexing, touch screen display, media card slots and USB ports and built-in memory card reader. You can buy a normal printer if you are not looking for too many advanced features.
- Ink and Toner - If you want to print documents with words only, get a black and white printer. If you print documents with color photographs, buy a color printer. An inkjet printer uses ink and laser printer use toner cartridges. Take into consideration the cost of ink and toner cartridges while buying a printer.
